The founder behind the interior design brand, Almastene, chats the idea behind the brand, the mantra that keeps her focused, and the best advice she's ever been given.
Founded with the vision of changing the way we decorate our interiors, Almastene products are a show of bold colours and playful, jewellery-inspired design that turn everyday objects into modern art for your home. Each piece is intended to bring joy, personality, creativity, and a touch of wonder to your space while helping organise with style.
We caught up with the founder to chat all things Almastene, from the story behind the brand to the small rituals that drive the brand's growth in the everyday.
1
What drove you to create your brand? Where did the idea for it come from?
I found it fascinating the way something used every day such as cutlery can be hidden inside a decorative piece that at first glance seems to have a purely aesthetic function.
I began reinterpreting this concept in a more contemporary and artistic way, with the idea that it could be more surprising to design lovers. With the thought of the diamond and jewellery as symbols of elegance, value, brilliance, and eternity. Values which represent our home: a place where we spend time that is precious to us.
I started developing designs dedicated to different “objects to hide,” using jewellery-like pieces for the home, from cutlery, makeup brushes, and tea bags.

Have you always been interested in homeware?
Since I was a child, I remember trying to hide objects in my house, inside things you wouldn’t naturally think about when organising. I also always had a passion for contemporary interior design, the way it compliments art and has the power of telling a unique story.

What’s playing in the background when you’re ideating, crafting, packaging?
Definitely an informative podcast.
I’m currently enjoying “The Burnouts”, introducing many founders from different industries, and as well as “The Stanza”, which gives many unique insights into the hospitality industry.

Do you have a morning or evening routine? Take us through it
Absolutely, I need to have a routine, especially when starting or ending the day.
I like to wake up very early and have a morning workout. Before that, I like to have some time for myself to journal, do my skincare, and set the intentions for the day.
Evening usually ends on my computer reading a book, answering emails, and watching my comfort show with a cup of tea.

5
Do you have a mantra that you’re focusing on at the moment?
I don’t know if it can be called a mantra but simply being patient. We are always rushing to get somewhere, forgetting to be present and appreciating every moment, which always contains something valuable and positive.
6
How would you describe your style? What’s your favorite piece in your wardrobe and why?
I enjoy mixing and matching maximalist with minimalist brands, prints with neutrals. For me, the best styles are the ones diversifying brands, textures and silhouettes.
As for my favourite pieces, probably a colourful, cosy cardigan for the day and a timeless dress for the night.

What’s the best gift you’ve ever received?
Although I always love to cross an item off my never-ending wishlist, the gifts that feel most personal to me are the ones I wouldn’t expect to receive, coming from small details people I care about remember. It is so special when someone keeps in mind something you have casually told them you want and they surprise you with it.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Don’t try to copy others and always create your own style.
Looking for inspiration is normal and necessary to develop a style, but many take it too far, underestimating their taste in choosing for themselves. Why let someone decide what represents you, if you know yourself best? There isn’t always a right or wrong, or a better or worse. Only what we think represents us.
